Centro de Conferencias is located in rural Baja California and one can, at any time of the year, enjoy an abundance of wildlife.

Over the years the center, with its vegetation and activity, has become a refuge for many kinds of birds and animals.

During a walk on the paths by the ocean, one will see ground squirrels standing on their hind legs on the lookout for rattlesnakes or birds of prey.

There is an abundance of smaller mammals, such as mice and rabbits. Larger animals, such as coyotes, bobcats or even deer, can be seen from time to time in the distance.

Larger birds, such as turkey vultures, northern harriers, red-tailed hawks and owls, are found crisscrossing the plains in search of food.

The center is surrounded by rich vegetation and several flower gardens, which invites smaller birds, for example hummingbirds, warblers, flycatchers, wrens and mockingbirds. Swallows return every year for their breeding season, and during recent years several families of skunks have joined the wildlife population around the center.

The ocean has its own amazing wildlife on display.

One can enjoy flocks of pelicans soaring along the waves, hardly moving their wings.

On the beaches one can observe wading birds searching for food as the water retreats from the beach. During low tide, seals can be seen resting on their rocky “seal island”, and at times a seal or two even joins guests who are taking a morning dip in the ocean. With some luck one can also spot dolphins playing in the waves.

Every year during April and May, groups of grey whales – mothers with their young calves – can be seen in the distance as they travel from their breeding lagoon farther south in Baja California to return to their feeding grounds in the frigid waters of Alaska.
